I would do anything for my children. I considered writing that I would throw myself in front of a train, as a woman in Chicago reportedly flung herself in front of an on-coming train yesterday. But I digress, as usual. I would do anything for my children.
Elizabeth was all pumped for this move. She was adament about coming even after the big chaotic string of confusion. But thinking about it and living it are two different things. She was in tears last night. It broke my heart. I was ready to gather up our things and head for the train station right then, but she said that she still wanted to give it a try. She misses her siblings. She misses her friends. She misses her cat that returned home the night before we left. But most of all, she misses her dog, Isabella.
This morning she feels a bit better, but is still nervous. I told her again that we can go back. She said that she really wants to stay and try school here. If she is still not comfortable after that, then she will say that she wants to return to Blue Springs.
I’ve got her back. Kyle’s got her back. Neither of us want her to hurt.
So for now, we wait.
Dear God, I love that child.

I took this pic of Mimi just a few minutes ago. She’s so utterly adorable with her little pink tongue sticking out!
When we move to Chicago next month, Mimi will stay behind with my son, James. We will miss the FuzzBall (pronounced FuhBah) so very, very much, but I believe that this is the best option for the MimiMeister. She’s almost 14 years old, suffering from arthritis and anxiety. She deserves some peace in her golden years. It will just be her and James in his basement apartment. No more dealing with 5 cats and one giant dog for Mimi! She will be queen of the castle. 
Hmm. Bubby (our car) is in need of some brake fluid. That is to be expected, as he has a slow leak. James will be over tonight to add the fluid. But there is more! The passenger door is refusing to shut! Ahh, Bubby…what am I going to do with you? So there will be no more driving until after James fixes the door this evening. Isolation! Nooooooooo! Not that I get out a lot, mind you, but that I like to be able to go when I want to go.
Bubby only needs to hold out for another 8 weeks. I know that he can do it! Once the girls and I have made our Great Move to Chicago, we will no longer need a car. We will be downtown riding the bus, the el and taking taxis!
Hang in there, Bubs. And thank you, James, for letting us ‘borrow’ him.
I called my ex-husband today to give him my new cell phone number. It is a Chicago number (on Kyle’s plan) and I know that he has probably been ‘researching’ Kyle ever since I gave it to him. I just wanted to make sure he had it, as Rebekah lives with him. In case of an emergency and all of that. Not that he called me when John had been run over by a car.
Why can’t that man let go of me? Why won’t he just let me be? It’s sad really. Ten years and he’s still hanging on.
